Stores
"In
keeping with the underlying idea of the Washington
boulevard development providing that this street should
become Detroit's most exclusive retail shopping section,
the ground floor of the Book-Cadillac is given over
mostly to stores and shops. There are nineteen spaces
for this purpose, including one for a great modern
drug store on the corner of Washington and Michigan.
There is an arcade extending through the entire building
from East to West. This has entrances to all the stores
and shops and also to the hotel's coffee shop, which
is on the North side of the building."
